Students from six Universities in the US will be coming to Rwanda, August 3, 2012, to train health workers to improve their services and skills.
The contingent students will come from Howard University, who will be joined by others from Texas, New York, Maryland, Illinois, and Duke University.
The training is aimed at helping Rwanda develop especially in health sector.
This training program will be beneficial to clinicians, midwives, and nurses across the country.
The Universities plan to send about seven professionals, who will be in Rwanda for the period of one to seven years.
The team will contain highly qualified personals- who hold Master’s, post graduate degrees, and a minimum experience with Doctors without Borders, health care or in the Peace Corps.
Ahead of this training program, the University of Maryland has also opened up HIV clinics to help eradicate the AIDS pandemic. This HIV program was initiated by the Clinton foundation as the UMD president’s AIDS emergency plan.
There is a possibility to have another group of students come to Rwanda, after the visit of the professional health workers from the US. These students will come for a learning experience and exchange ideas with the Rwandan health practitioners.
